Sales channel collaboration to introduce high density converged infrastructure solutions to major European hosting and cloud providers
Augsburg, GERMANY, November 10, 2015 – Kontron, a leading global provider of embedded computing technology (ECT), today announced the signing of a new sales channel agreement with German-based value-added reseller Rausch Netzwerktechnik to supply dedicated hosting and cloud providers with next generation converged hardware and software infrastructure solutions.
As an entry point, Rausch will use Kontron 10GbE SYMKLOUD converged modular servers featuring, among others, the recently launched Intel® Xeon® processors D-1500 family. Along with a full suite of integration services, Rausch offers data center clients a complete line of server and storage products including its Bigfoot family of high density storage systems.
“The Kontron SYMKLOUD Series will substantially alleviate the operating pressures our data center customers are facing today – increasing energy consumption, server sprawl, and reliability,” said Sebastian Nölting, CEO, Rausch Netzwerktechnik. “As a German-based partner, we are pleased to work with Kontron and go to market with their carrier-class and cloud converged infrastructure platforms.”
“Aligning with Rausch Netzwerktechnik as a strategic Channel partner is pivotal to the Kontron growth strategy in the hosting and cloud provider markets,” said Thomas Feil, VP Channel Sales, Kontron. “The SYMKLOUD product line delivers the best price-performance ratio for data centers and, in turn, enables them to pass on any savings to their end customers so they can be more successful online.”
Higher density of concurrent workloads per 2U SYMKLOUD
A 16 core count version of the Intel Xeon processor D-1500 series will be made available in Q1, 2016 timeframe. This equates to 144 physical cores in a single 2U enclosure, or, up to 3,024 cores in a 42U rack. Kontron offers two hot-swappable, low-power 10GbE modular servers – MSP8040 and MSP8041.
Targeted application workloads are at the data center edge, including: dedicated hosting, dynamic web serving, warm storage, edge routing and security.
Bridging the gap between telco networks and IT/cloud data centers, the SYMKLOUD series of x86 commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms are the convergence of High Availability (HA) and modular “mix and match” compute, storage, and dual 10GbE intelligent switching into a compact, short-depth footprint. With the growing trend for hyperconverged hardware and software solutions, Kontron works with numerous partners to provide cloud-ready open platforms with hardware-accelerated support for software defined networking.
SYMKLOUD platforms are ultra-dependable (5-7 year long life) and massively scalable using various cloud provisioning software. Kontron has initiated the process for SYMKLOUD to be VMware certified for intelligent and automated data center virtualization.
