Kontron and Avnet Embedded grow channel relationship in the Americas

Channel clients to be better served with expanded portfolio of integrated, carrier grade platforms for 4G LTE and Carrier Cloud networks

Eching, Germany, July 10, 2013 — Kontron and Avnet Embedded, a division of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) announced today the expansion of their channel relationship dedicated to the communications and telecom vertical markets. To complement the line of Kontron carrier grade rackmount servers that Avnet Embedded has already supported in the communications channel for many years, the two companies have agreed to add the Kontron portfolio of AdvancedTCA application-ready platforms to the mix.

Both companies will closely collaborate and leverage each other’s technical strengths to offer mutual clients in the communications channel the most flexible integrated platform solutions that can be tailored for wireless LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and Content Delivery Networks, as well as for the carrier cloud.

The expansion of this relationship further enables telecom and network equipment provider (NEP) clients to benefit from Kontron's application-ready 10G and 40G platforms featuring high performance processor blades with Intel® or Cavium® architecture alongside Avnet's comprehensive offering of value-added services and solutions.

"With Kontron’s best-in-class carrier grade technologies and Avnet’s state-of-the-art integration capabilities and services, our relationship is poised to further accelerate this high growth opportunity," stated Richard Poirier, Kontron, Director of Communications Business Unit, North America. "Kontron AdvancedTCA platforms together with our carrier grade rackmount servers are already highly successful with Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) who often have requirements for both. This will translate extremely well in the Avnet channel."

"Both Avnet and Kontron have the right synergy and strong commitment to develop a successful channel business model based on tailor-made platform infrastructure solutions," said Jeff Ittel, senior Vice President of Embedded Marketing for Avnet Embedded. "Selecting the right mix of integrated hardware and software components for complete integrated platforms is increasingly complex for both TEM and NEP clients. This strategic relationship reinforces both companies’ commitment to market-led growth opportunities."
