Industrial PC with Four Additional PCI Slots

Rugged but still a standard

Eching, Germany, November 21, 2001 - Kontron is introducing the compact industrial PC SC1 (Small Computer) for wall and top-hat rail mounting. The PC, equipped with standard PCI slots, includes all the typical PC characteristics such as graphics and networking capabilities, but also offers optional features such as real-time tick, watchdog and SRAM for application as a soft PLC. For operating systems, the computer supports both the Windows range from MS-DOS through to Windows XP and Windows NT, as well as Linux, VxWorks and QNX.
In terms of computer performance, the PC, equipped with four free PCI slots, can be very easily scaled as required. The CPU board only needs to be replaced by a more powerful one. As standard, the SC1 is fitted with an Intel Celeron at 566 MHz and up to 256 MB of SDRAM and can be expanded up to a Pentium III at 850 MHz. Depending on the choice of CPU, fanless operation is also possible. Two serial interfaces (RS232) are also part of the series equipment as well as two USB ports and a PCI Ethernet interface (10/100 Mbit/s).

The Small Computer will be available from the first quarter of 2002.
