Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Compact Display of 1U Simplifies Cabling
Eching, Germany, September 11, 2001 - The innovative 15" RPD-1158 display for rack mounting is only 44mm high and has an integrated eightfold KVM switch (keyboard/video/mouse) with an auto-sensing function on the keyboard drawer. This permits all signals to be transmitted via a 25-pin plug, eliminating cable clutter.
Through cascading, RPD-1158 can control up to 512 systems. Configurable access and display protection systems improve the MTBF rate by automatically switching off the display as soon as the system is shut down. Furthermore, the system also contains a hot-key and OSD control function. Password protection and front access protection ensure additional system safety.
The display is ideal for many areas of application, including manufacturing automation, server farms and airport control towers. All common operating systems in use today are supported. The system uses a 15 TFT LCD display panel with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels with background lighting and automatic switching off. The steel housing measures 440 x 492 x 44mm and weighs 17kg.
The compact displays design not only simplifies cabling but also ensures easy access and simple maintenance. Power for the device is supplied by an auto-switching power supply unit with an AC input of 85 V to 264 V.
The worldwide demand for such products is currently at 30,000 units. Kontron hopes to cover about 10% of the market share with RPD-1158.
