Ad-hoc: Kontron AG reports record figures once again in Q3

• Sales grow by more than 40% and exceed the EUR 100 million for the first time
• EBIT is up by more than 50% to EUR 8.8 million
• Orders on hand rise to EUR 220 million
• Further strong growth expected

Eching, Munich, October 26, 2006. Kontron AG, one of the world's leading providers of embedded computer systems has exceeded the EUR 100 million mark for the first time with sales of EUR 106.5 million in the third quarter of 2006. With these figures, the company has once again notched up a new record performance. By comparison with the prior year period (EUR 73.5 million) this represents a 45 percent increase. In the first three quarters total sales stood at EUR 286.4 million over EUR 207.0 million in the year elapsed. This equals a gain by around 38 percent. Incoming orders were recorded at EUR 120 million, which is also 40 percent above the same period last year (EUR 86 million). Orders on the books continued to rise in third quarter and stood at EUR 220 million.

Following on EUR 5.1 million in the first quarter, and EUR 6.7 million in the second quarter, EBIT was boosted once again to EUR 8.8 million. Compared with the same period last year (EUR 5.7 million), this represents a gain of 54 percent. In the first nine months, Kontron generated EBIT of EUR 20.6 million over EUR 14.2 million in the same period last year. The surplus for the period reflects these positive developments and was recorded at EUR 6.6 million in the third quarter (prior year period: EUR 4.2 million). The figure for the first nine months of the year stands at EUR 14.6 by comparison with EUR 10.4 million in the prior year period. Operating cash flow developed in an especially gratifying manner, and was recorded at EUR 15.3 million after the first nine months of the year (previous year: EUR 3.0 million). The strong third quarter accounted for the major share, and contributed EUR 9.3 million.

With these new record figures in the third quarter, Kontron is considerably exceeding the forecast maintained to date of a minimum of EUR 345 million in the 2006 business year. With regard to the operating result, the anticipated EUR 26 million mark will also be exceeded by a considerable measure. According to the Kontron board, all indicators continue to point towards sustained, vigorous growth, also with a look to the upcoming business years. With the new manufacturing location in Penang, Malaysia, now operational, the company not only commands adequate production capacities, but is also benefiting from considerable cost advantages. Consequently, the further improvement in earnings strength to a double-digit EBIT margin, in addition to healthy organic sales growth, are the key targets that Kontron AG will be pursuing in the upcoming years.
