Kontron: New 2U/4U Rackmount Server KISS V3 PCI763 with PICMG Motherboard

Scalable Server for Challenging and Noise Sensitive Environments

Augsburg, October 18, 2018 – Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), has expanded its rackmout server family with the Kontron KISS V3 PCI763 in 2U and 4U format. The new rackmout system has been designed especially for demanding industrial environments. It is highly suitable for compute-intensive applications required for processing and analysing huge amounts of data, as in Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning. Furthermore, the KISS V3 PCI763 features high reliability, scalability as well as cost efficiency. Due to its modular design and its versatile expansion options, the KISS V3 PCI763 is quickly and easily adaptable to individual requirements. The KISS V3 PCI763 2U format is equipped with five, the 4U format with twelve Full High expansion slots. In addition, the new rackmout server offers a number of different slots for removable drives and diverse connectivity options.

The KISS V3 PCI763 is suitable for industrial applications, which require robustness and sustainability. It has a high resistance to shock and vibration according to EN 60068-2-27 and EN 60068-2-6 respectively. This makes it ideal for use in semi-mobile areas, like large construction or event sites. The rackmount server is also suitable for noise-sensitive areas in close proximity to people, for example in medical environments, in sound or film studios and also in control stations, as it works almost noiselessly (<= 35 dBA).

The flexible, modular design allows easy adjustments to customer specific requirements. Tool-free substitution of fans, filter mats or hard drives minimize maintenance effort, and hence the costs. Furthermore, the KISS V3 PCI763 is Microsoft Azure certified. Security solutions like TPM 2.0 can be optionally integrated.

The Kontron KISS V3 PCI763 rackmount servers feature 7th Gen Intel^® Core^™ i7/i5/i3 or Intel^® Xeon^® E3-1200 v6 processors that support compute-intensive AI and Machine Learning applications. Two DIMM DDR4-2400 sockets with up to 32GB ECC memory provide sufficient processing capacity, Error Checking and Correction (ECC) is supported as well. The rackmount systems feature also two USB 2.0 front-side ports, as well as two GB-LAN-, two USB 3.0 ports and one DVI-I-port on the rear.

Depending on the design, system expansions are possible with up to five PCIe expansion cards (Gen 2) and up to seven PCI cards. In addition, the KISS V3 PCI763 has an internal 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drive and offers slots for a variety of SSD or hard disc drive bays with or without RAID support. In 2U format, the server features a DVD-R/W slim drive.
