Eching, Germany, October 8th, 2002 ? It is just one year since Kontron introduced the 19" industrial PC, KPR-PxV414, in the Intel? Pentium? III version with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. In the familiar system design of this range of computers, the follow-on model, KPR-PxV414 with Intel? Pentium? 4 power and a clock frequency of up to 2.2 GHz, is coming onto the market. In particular, the fields of application of image processing, process visualization and process controllers demand this sort of high computing power.

For the computer system Kontron guarantees the services which extend beyond the spectrum of commercial computers. For example, the life cycle management from Kontron guarantees the availability of the computer for well beyond five years. In addition, numerous approvals and certificates for the computer units (Technical Control Board [TUV] to EN 60950, CE, CB Scheme, shock and vibration) are a testament to reliable continuous operation.

Apart from the dual LAN 10/100 Base-T connection possibilities, the industrial PC also supports technologies such as Profibus and CANopen using integrated fieldbus cards. The possible integration of components from the computer world such as DVD, CD-RW and HDD are also obligatory with the new industrial PC. The computer has PCI and ISA slots available for easy upgrading with further features.

Due to the open system architecture, the KPR-PxV414 can be simply and cost-effectively adapted to almost any application. The KPR-PxV414 Industrial PC is immediately available.
