At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.

Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.

Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

KONTRON INTRODUCES THE 400-H33E -- NEWEST 18-INCH INTEL® PENTIUM® 4 SBC 4U PLATFORM

SAN DIEGO, NOVEMBER 12, 2003 - Kontron, a leading embedded computer technology company, today introduced the 400-H33E -- the newest 18-inch Intel Pentium 4 SBC industrial 4U platform. It is designed for a broad range of applications requiring high-performance processing in a PICMG environment, including automation, communications, medical and military applications.

The 400-H33E includes a rich set of standard features, including an Intel Pentium 4 processor up to 3GHz, Kontron¿s ePCI-200 CPU board, latest-generation 478-pin processor technology, PCI-X support up to 133MHz, two independent PCI buses, up to 4GB of DDR SDRAM, an onboard ATI® Mobility Radeon 3D dual-screen video controller with integrated 16 MB of DDR SDRAM, and a dual Fast Ethernet controller. It also features three 5.25-inch front accessible drives and two optional internal 3.5-inch drives.
