Kontron Expands its ETX® Certified Design Partner Program

Kontron Adds Value to COMs with its Certification for Independent Baseboard Design Companies

San Diego/Eching, November 28, 2006 – Due to the rapidly growing demand for custom baseboard designs that support the latest technologies including PCIe and multi-core, Kontron today announced the expansion and re-organization of the Kontron ETX® Certified Design Partner Program that was originally founded in the year 2000. The revamped ETX CDP will support additional ETX design partners and also Certified Design Partners for ETXexpress®/COM Express Computer-On-Modules, microETXexpress®, X-board® and DIMM-PC®. The expansion and re-organization better supports a wider spread of Kontron Certified Design Partners and offers more value adding certified services for OEM that select to outsource their entire hardware design.

Computer-On-Modules are ideal for custom systems that need many special features in that flexible way. Kontron Certified Design Partners offer very quick-to-market and reliable baseboard projects.

The new community of certified baseboard designers that support Kontron’s expansive product families of highly integrated Computer-On-Modules is starting with seven global members: ACCES I/O, b-plus, datakamp System, Diamond Point International, IES Industrie-Elektronik Schmitz, WOLF and World Micro. Further companies are in certification process. Experts in developing dedicated solutions from industrial computing, communications and defense to mobile, multimedia, medical and other emerging industries are invited to join the Kontron Certified Design Partner Program for COM baseboard designs.

In order to support the development of reliable custom baseboards for the diverse number of possible embedded applications solutions that are to be based on COMs, Kontron established the ETX Certified Partner Program in 2000. ETX Certified Partners have been qualified in different levels by Kontron, offering expertise for gold, silver or bronze certification and ensure dependable workflows to create reliable ETX baseboards within the project’s specified time frame.

Examples of the work done by Kontron’s ETX Certified Design Partners will be shown on Kontron’s “wall of fame” at the Bus & Boards Conference in Long Beach (California, USA) as well as at the Embedded World 2007 fair in Nuremberg (Germany).
