Kontron Announces More Performance for PISA Slot CPU Boards

The Kontron coolMONSTER/PM Has More Bite

San Jose, Calif., April 4, 2007 – Kontron announced today the introduction of the Kontron coolMONSTER/PM slot CPU board featuring the origins of the Intel® CoreTM Microarchitecture, the Intel® Pentium® M processor.

As one of the first PISA® (PCI and ISA) platforms, the Kontron coolMonster/PM boasts the versatility to accommodate four different Intel processors depending on the applications requirements – starting with the robust and fanless Intel® Celeron® M processor 600 MHz and the 1.0 GHz Intel® Celeron® M ULV processor 373 up to the high-performance 1.8 GHz Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 with a 2 MB L2 cache. Based on the roots of Intel Core Microarchitecture, the Kontron coolMONSTER/PM is equipped with the Intel® Pentium M processor and offers long term availability for the PISA (PCI and ISA) open standard and sets a new performance benchmark.

The Kontron coolMONSTER/PM is an extremely robust slot CPU board with an Intel 855GME/ICH4 chipset and up to 1 GByte DDR-RAM; it is the first board to offer 3 x USB 2.0 with 480 Mbit/s transfer rate and sophisticated graphics: the Intel® Extreme Graphics 2™ Engine with 2 x 32 MB VRAM allows independent operation of two CRT or TFT monitors via DVO or JILI with “plug and display.” Like all of the boards in the coolMONSTER family, the Kontron coolMONSTER/PM offers 3 x USB, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, 4 x COM, 2 x PS2 (mouse, keyboard), CRT, IrDA, Dual EIDE (2.54 mm and 2 mm), LPT, floppy and sound (AC97). This range of features, together with the Kontron coolMONSTER-PM's ability to offer PCI and ISA busses via a single PISA slot, make the coolMONSTER PISA board the perfect choice for upgrades. Existing applications can be upgraded very easily to obtain state-of-the-art processor performance in an identical configuration. Users with application-specific I/O cards using the ISA and PCI busses can particularly profit from the combination of the capabilities of the current core processor technology offered by the Kontron coolMONSTER/PM. Plus, it’s lead-free and offers long term availability.

The Kontron coolMONSTER-PM is available immediately. Prices available on request.
