Specific features of the FW2000 Series II include:

Faster performance: To meet the growing performance demands that newer operating systems and applications place upon in-vehicle servers, the FW2000 Series II features the fastest in-vehicle processors made available by FieldWorks with speeds up to 333 MHz.
Expanded connectivity: With three serial ports and two USB ports, the FW2000 Series II offers impressive input/output capabilities to accommodate video cameras, storage devices or other peripherals needed for simultaneous, on-board computing applications. This allows the easy integration of magnetic card and fingerprint readers, RF modems, vehicle bus adapters and other equipment.
Enhanced multimedia capabilities: The FW2000 Series II features simultaneous dual-display output, enabling the operation of two, independent display panels from a single server. For ambulance applications, for example, this enables dispatch and routing information to be displayed on a screen mounted in the front of the vehicle near the driver, while a rear screen displays patient information needed by emergency medical technicians. An MPEG-2 decoder allows for video transmission and playback, enabling applications such as in-vehicle use of electronic training manuals with full-motion video. In addition, a new video interface allows for the capture, digitizing and storage of data from infrared cameras and other video devices that are becoming commonplace in the field.
Additional space saving and safety features: The FW2000 Series II features a new airbag-compliant, space-saving dash mount, and a "graceful shutdown" function that prevents data loss or corruption in the event of a sudden power cutoff within the vehicle.
