ETXEXPRESS MODULES WITH GIGABIT ETHERNET

Newest addition to ETXexpress product family immediately available and family still growing

LONG BEACH, CA -- January 16, 2006 -- Kontron, a leading embedded computer technology company and the inventor of the ETX Computer-On-Module (COM) form factor, today announced the immediate availability of the newest Kontron ETXexpress PM Computer-On-Module. Based on the Intel® Pentium® M processor 760 (2.13GHz) and the Mobile Intel® 915GM Express chipset, the Kontron ETXexpress-PM delivers Gigabit Ethernet for light-speed communication capabilities in addition to the advanced graphics of the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900. PCI Express graphics also are supported. The ETXexpress-PM is the lead "Basic" COM Express form factor module from the embedded computing leader. Kontron has four more ETXexpress modules on the way to be introduced in spring 2006, including a microETXexpress module.

Kontron´s pending "micro" version of the ETXexpress will be a 95mm x 95mm footprint module that is compatible with both "Basic" and "Extended" ETXexpress COM Express modules. The microETXexpress, which will support up to 2 PCI Express lanes, will be an ideal migration path for future-looking embedded applications previously built around small single board computers. Such applications are extremely space constrained and do not allow for modifications to the system enclosure. The use of highly integrated microETXexpress modules will allow these applications to take advantage of newer technology without the need for extensive stacking of other I/O modules.

ETXexpress-PM modules are available now priced starting at approximately $600 in small quantities (actual pricing may vary based on volume). Visitors to the Bus&Board Conference in Long Beach, CA (January 16-17) can see the ETXexpress-PM in action paired with the Kontron ETXexpress Eval Carrier Board.
